HOW TO DRESS AS AN AWESOME BIGGER GUY

You know, we’ve always felt that the fashion industry doesn’t cater well to real men, on the women’s side, things are somewhat better, but when it comes to men’s fashion, it’s a whole different story. If you’re looking for truly elegant stuff, the solution might be to go for made-to-measure or bespoke clothing, but unfortunately, most brands stop at XL (if you’re lucky, XXL), and even then, the clothes can end up looking shapeless and not well cared for.

You know what? Most of us are sailing in the same boat, no matter how much we work out or watch what we eat. That’s why bigger guys may need some wisdom on shopping, looking through different sizes and start to enjoy shopping from the best and most tailored menswear labels in the world.

If you’re interested in off-the-peg options, there are still some great brands for larger men. Cos offers cuts that are quite generous, even if the sizing isn’t, Issey Miyake Homme Plissé has fantastic stretchy and architectural suits that are gaining popularity and Ralph Lauren and Brunello Cucinelli are also excellent choices. Both brands embrace customers of various sizes, and rightfully so. Brunello Cucinelli may require you to be a master of the universe to afford their pieces.

It’s about time the fashion industry steps up and starts offering a wider range of stylish options for men of all shapes and sizes. Until then, consider exploring made-to-measure or bespoke tailoring, and don’t be afraid to rock your unique style with confidence. If you are a bigger guy, you’re probably mindful of what you wear, some clothes can be unforgiving.

When it comes to T-shirts, try raglan tees or baseball shirts as they accentuate arms and shoulders and Western shirts, whether from Levi’s or vintage, do the same, adding a rugged and masculine touch to your outfit. Go for black V-necks under jackets as they help lengthen your silhouette and are versatile for various occasions. As for pants, especially jeans, we recommend bootcut jeans for guys with stockier legs as they lengthen the silhouette and balance out thicker thighs.

When it comes to suits, well-fitted ones can be your go-to because they can make any man look good, almost like a suit of armour, the man’s little black dress, especially if you’re working in corporate companies. It’s easier these days for bigger guys to find something that looks great as brands like Hugo Boss and Banana Republic offer separates, and there are places like My.Suit where you can get made-to-measure suits at affordable prices with fantastic details. But, regarding colours, if you love all-black, try adding some variety to avoid becoming a caricature. Gradients of colours in the same family can work wonders.

As for tailored sweatpants, these are challenging to wear, but high-end sweatpants might be worth exploring for a comfortable yet stylish look, that ultimately, it will feels better with a little tapering and structure, giving him a more defined shape. Even when if you are bigger, fitted clothing will look better on you, depending on where you carry the weight. Take, for instance, a well-fitted T-shirt paired with a finely tailored jacket; this combo can cleverly conceal love handles without adding unnecessary layers. Embracing this style allows you to showcase the best version of yourself with confidence.

Take it full on. It will really bring the best out in you. Ultimately, it’s about feeling great and looking your best, no matter your size or shape. Fashion is all about expressing yourself and having fun, so don’t hesitate to try new things and discover what suits you perfectly!
