During the season of work parties and social get-togethers, dressing up is something we all think about. The problem I always have is knowing what to wear. I start over questioning the occasion, the weather, my budget and normally end up wearing something I don’t particularly like. After years of this rather laborious task, I decided to keep things incredibly simple and utilise what I already had in my wardrobe, and I’m hoping you also have them in yours.
Every occasion calls for a different outfit. For me, it’s about being comfortable enough to let loose for a few hours and celebrate the occasion, so I try to blend bits of a handful of outfits that I really enjoy into one. by doing that I can guarantee that I’m going to like the pieces but also achieve that level of comfort we all want. I try keep it relatively smart without going the whole hog and wearing a full suit. Allow me to walk you through the pieces and briefly explain why they were chosen.
Zara – Flannel Wool Trousers – £79.99
A pair of well fitting trousers is key to any great outfit and this outfit is no exception. Don’t worry if they don’t fit exactly how you’d like, a simple turn up should do the trick to get that perfect length.
Charles Tyrwhitt – Merino Roll Neck Jumper – £44.95
Winter calls for a roll neck. It’s a slightly smarter option than a simple jumper and you don’t need to worry about whether to wear a t-shirt or shirt underneath it. Works equally well tucked in or untucked, the ways of wearing this piece are endless.
Mango – Structured Wool Cardigan – £59.99
Bridging the gap between a cardigan and a jacket, this front zip cardigan with large front pockets is the ideal accompaniment to a roll neck. The shallow v-neck is just low enough to really show off the roll neck underneath but high enough to keep the warmth in when zipped up.
Paraboot – Michael Bar – £353.34
End strong by popping the Michael on your feet. Smart yet casual, robust and incredibly well made. The beauty of these shoes is that they are not a one trick pony, they work well with jeans, chinos, tailored trousers and if you really want to, shorts.
